Work for a "Work-At-Home" company

There are companies looking for people who want to work at home and earn extra cash. These jobs range from stuffing envelops to making seasonal craft items at home, and generally pay by the piece.  Some require that you purchase the materials first, others do not. Be sure to research very thoroughly any company that asks you for money up front.

Many multi-level-marketing companies advertise for work-at-home help.  These jobs usually require the initial purchase of a 'start-up kit', but can offer very good returns, particularly if the product is high quality.  If you are a good salesperson, there is money to be made selling things like toys, cookware, and craft supplies.  You'll do best in this environment if you love the product you sell and are enthusiastic about selling.

There are also schools that train people to do work at home such as medical transcribing or billing, accounting, or tax preparation.  These may appeal to you if you are interested in a new career and the training involved.  Many of these careers, or the skills aquired during the training, can also be used in the workforce if you choose to someday return to work outside the home.

We have compiled a few links to companies offering to hire home workers, websites that list work-from-home jobs, and multi-level marketing companies like Pampered Chef and Creative Memories.  If you'd like to learn more, visit our Work From Home Jobs Page.

Make Money On the Web

Do you spend a lot of time surfing the web?  You can make a little extra money simply by doing what you are doing right now.  Several companies will pay you for surfing, or let you accumulate "award" points for visiting sponsor sites.   You probably won't get rich this way, but its easy work

If you have your own website, personal or business, you can use it to promote other people's products and services.  Many online companies offer affiliate programs that pay you commission when you direct your visitors to buy their items or sign up for their services.  For example, check out OUR affiliate program!  We pay you $5.00 for every sale!  Click Here for More Information.  Find links to other affiliate programs in our Resources section.

You want to work at home, earning extra money to make up for lost income when you cut  hours or quit your job to stay home with your kids. What do people who work at home do?  What sorts of jobs are available to someone who wants to work from home?  Here are a few types of work at home jobs, and some suggestions where to find more.  These ideas should give you food for thought, and a place to start in your search for the perfect at-home-job.

Start Your Own Home Business

Starting a new business is hard work, but it can be very fulfilling AND profitable! Arts and Craft items such as quilts, knitted sweaters, hand made wooden decorations or furniture, or hand-crafted home decorating items are some examples of things people create at home.  In addition to crafts, assembling gift baskets or other gift items can be a money maker, and is a craft easily learned.   Or, consider selling your services from home: Preparing taxes, tutoring students, creating websites, childcare, or proofreading and typing papers are just a few examples.   Or how about making money with online auctions?

How will customers find you?  There are many ways to generate customers for your at-home business. One great way is through the Internet.  If you don't already have your own website, visit the Home Biz Online section of Mommerce to learn about getting your spot on the web.  Better yet, have Mommerce do the advertising work while you concentrate on your business!  Look for details in the Join Mommerce area. You will also need to promote your business in the "real world".  Whether you are selling things primarily online or off, we can help you find cheap (or free!) ways to advertise your business.  More Advertising Ideas
